Hobart Hurricanes Trump Sydney Sixers To Enter BBL 2024-25 Final

Batting first, the Sixers did not have the best of starts as they lost both their openers within four overs. Their middle order too could not add much and at one point, the Sixers were 76 for five in the 13th over. After that, Jordan Silk combined with Ben Dwarshius to form a crucial half-century partnership. Silk scored an unbeaten 43 while Dwarshius chipped in with a well-timed 30.

Wes Agar and Tom Andrews struck twice for the Thunder to restrict Sixers at a below-par total of 151/7 in 20 overs.

Thunder lost their skipper David Warner early in the pursuit of 152 but Jason Sangha kept the scoreboard ticking with a well-paced 30. Matthew Gikes contributed 26 but the bulk of scoring was done by Sam Billings whose 29-ball 42 not out steered the Thunder to the target. Nathan McAndrew slammed two fours and a six late in the innings to quickly take Thunder over the line with seven balls left in the contest.

Thunder will now take on Hurricanes in the title clash. Hurricanes are yet to win a BBL title while Thunder's only BBL triumph came in the 2015-16 season.
